<h2>Background</h2>
<p>Lele Barnett is an art advisor, curator, and producer based in Seattle who has experience working with a variety of artists, organizations, and corporations. She graduated from the UW School of Art + Art History + Design in 1999 with a BA in both Interdisciplinary Visual Arts and Art History. When she was an undergraduate, her name was Leanne Ng.</p>
<h2>Interview</h2>
<p><strong>What made you choose to double-major in Interdisciplinary Visual Arts and Art History at UW?</strong></p>
<p>We are happy to announce an opportunity for a person who wants to be an integral part of the School of Art + Art History + Design. Our Media Relations Specialist is a critical, full-time staff position, which is responsible for many aspects of the School's external communications, including emails, press releases, the website, and more.</p>

<p>Each October, the School awards over $210,000 in scholarships to new and returning students studying Art, Art History, and Design.</p>
<p>Two recent scholarship recipients share stories about their journey at the UW, what their scholarships mean to them, and what they are looking forward to when returning to campus this autumn.</p>
<h2>Zoë Tsai</h2>
<ul><li>BA with Honors in Art (Painting + Drawing) and Comparative History of Ideas, 2024</li>
<li>Recipient of a Dani Elenga Scholarship</li>
<p><a href="https://studiomatthews.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Studio Matthews</a>, a design firm led by Visual Communication Design Associate Professor Kristine Matthews, recently won awards for two of their 2021 projects. Eli Kahn (BDes 2020) is a designer at the firm and worked on both of these projects.</p>
<h2>Ballard Food Bank</h2>
<p>Interaction Design Assistant Professor James Pierce received a National Science Foundation (NSF) Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER) Award earlier this year. This significant honor, typically awarded only to faculty in science and engineering fields, is the NSF's "most prestigious award in support of early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education and to lead advances in the mission of their department or organization."</p>
