Project based course which examines the merging of data science, and arts and design practices. Draws from a range of theoretical texts and artistic works, combining textile and statistics literatures. Emphasizes mingling of ideas, multiple interpretations, and translations to critically represent, express, and challenge biased datasets and skewed machine learning systems.
With foundations of digital sound for digital arts applications, this course provides an overview of the history of electronic music and analyzes important works from its canon. Learn about acoustics, psychoacoustics and digital sound theory, and create your own experimental sound compositions.
Explores creative, theoretical, & historical perspectives of New Media Art. Students cultivate their own artistic vision through video lectures, online discussions and creative assignments.
Examines historical and recent examples of Internet Art, as well as the emergence of Post-Internet aesthetics.
Photogrammetry is the process of making digital 3D models from 2D images.
This course examines the paradigm shifts implicit in the inception & expansion of media art, as well as the dynamic core ideas that underscore digital art practices in the early XXI century.
Topics: Video Art, Interactive Installations, Virtual and Augmented Environments, Internet and Post-Internet Art, Media Performance, Physical and Wearable Computing, Sound Art, and Bio Art.
Students are introduced to making art on, & in dialog with, the Internet. The class examines historical & recent examples of Internet Art, as well as the emergence of Post-internet aesthetics.
