<p><br>Electroacoustic trio<span> </span><em>uluuul</em> (Carrie Shaw, soprano; Mabel Kwan, keyboard; Mauricio Pauly, multi-instrumentalist and electronic music creator) performs music from their latest collaboration, created with support from the UW Royalty Research Fund (RRF). </p>

Faculty Concert: Carrie Shaw: The Weight of Sweetness: Songs for All the Senses

<p></p>
<p>Selected from 689 applicants from 44 countries, composer Chris Trapani was awarded the Barlow commission for a new song cycle to be premiered by an elite quartet of sopranos, including UW’s own Carrie Shaw. Hear the premiere of this major contribution to American art song, alongside works by living composers from around the world in her program "The Weight of Sweetness: Songs for All the Senses." Shaw is joined onstage by faculty colleagues Cristina Valdés, piano; and Andrew Romanick, piano and vocoder.</p>

Faculty Recital: Carrie Shaw and Guests

<p><span>Members of acclaimed Chicago-based Ensemble Dal Niente—Connie</span> Volk, flute, and Katie Jimoh, clarinet<span>—</span>join faculty soprano Carrie Shaw in performing works for voice and winds by Volk, Luis Naòn, Jérôme Combier, and a newly commissioned work by Sky Macklay. Shaw is joined by soprano <span>Danielle Reutter-Harrah in performing duets for voice by Farzia Fallah.</span></p>

Percussion Ensemble, UW Steel Band and Gamelan Ensemble: "2022 Percussion Bash"

<blockquote><span><span>The UW Percussion Ensemble (Bonnie Whiting, director) presents a year-end performance shared with the UW Steel Drum Band (Shannon Dudley, director) and Gamelan Ensemble (Heri Purwanto, director). The Steel Band performs a mix of calypso and salsa classics, as well as an original composition by graduate student Emily Silks.
