<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Composer John Chowning is considered one of the pioneers of Computer Music. His contributions to this field, such as the invention of FM Digital Synthesis, had a strong cultural impact in the worlds of both classical and popular music. His invention allowed the production of one of the most popular digital synthesizers, the Yamaha DX7, which sold millions of units in the 1980s and was used by virtually every band from that era.

<p><span>All new and returning Huskies are invited to join us for our annual Dawg Daze Performing Arts Open House, Friday September 20th 1:30 - 3:30 PM. Come by and learn all about how to get involved in the performing arts at UW. Representatives from the Schools of Drama and Music, as well as performing arts-related student organizations like the Undergraduate Theater Society, Stage Notes, The Collective Improv, Arts Diversity Council, Dance Student Association, and more will be on hand to answer questions and fill you in on opportunities.

<p><span>How to find, cut, and craft a stand-out monologue to power your auditions. Diana Trotter is a seasoned, award-winning director, actress, and education. In this first session, she will take participants through a process to custom-cut monologues that highlight each individual actor and, more importantly, help you learn to love monologue auditions! She will also address how to approach songs as monologues, cut and craft them using the same process, and deliver them with a strong sense of character and intention.
